It’s Not Me, It’s Sugar

I’m all for the whole new year, new me thing, but hey, new me deserves the joy of indulging in a delicious dessert just as much as old me did. I know that “sugar is bad,” but tucking into a cookie or a piece of chocolate after dinner is one of my greatest joys and a non-negotiable part of my routine.

This year, instead of trying and failing at a miserable, restrictive diet devoid of dessert, I set out to discover the best better-for-you options to replace my favorite artery-clogging treats.

After MANY rigorous (and disappointing) rounds of taste testing, I discovered the holy grail of desserts that are easy on the sugar and carbs but taste like my favorite childhood sweets: HighKey’s Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Low sugar and carbs, Highkey delicious.

TBH, I didn’t have high hopes for HighKey at first. It seemed utterly impossible to me that a keto-friendly, gluten-free, grain-free, low-carb, and sugar-free cookie could taste any better than a flip flop…

But, I was impressed by how passionate they are about eliminating sugar from the American diet. After seeing that mega-celeb Ryan Reynolds was on-board with HighKey, playing the role of the “sugar panda” in a series of ads last year, I decided to give ’em a go.

Eating My Words

Oh-ho-ho, was I wrong to doubt the flavor-geniuses at HighKey. I’m not entirely sure what a flip flop tastes like, but I do know what Chips Ahoy crispy cookies taste like, and HighKey’s Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies are a dead-ringer.

The almond flour-based cookies have that satisfyingly crumbly factor we all know and love, which gives way to a melt-in-your-mouth butteriness and the sweet kiss of chocolate chips. These cookies taste like childhood nostalgia, especially if you down them like a bowl of Cookie Crisp cereal (the real ones know).

Yes, you CAN have cookies for breakfast!

Through my product-testing, I discovered that the majority of desserts with sugar alternatives taste way too sweet and leave a weird “cooling” sensation in your mouth. Not here. HighKey has mastered the art of being just-sweet-enough, using a balanced blend of calorie-free sweeteners like erythritol and monk fruit that won’t spike your blood-glucose levels or trigger a dreaded sugar crash later on.

Most importantly though, these cookies aren’t just good for what they are, they’re 11/10, straight-up freaking delicious and I can enjoy them whenever I want without worrying about my sugar intake. I would be lying if I told you I didn’t finish the entire bag when I first tried them.

There’s Something for Everyone

I could rant and rave about the Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies all day, but one of the reasons why I’ll be a HighKey fanatic forever is that they’ve been able to recreate dozens of my favorite treats. Chocolate Caramel Clusters? Check. Rice Krispies? You betcha. Brownie Crisps? Obviously. I have yet to try something that’s a miss.

HighKey has done the impossible.

Everything that HighKey makes is gluten and grain-free, contains less than four net carbs and little to no added sugar, and is made with top-notch, clean ingredients — so no matter your lifestyle or preferences, you can still enjoy sweet treats without compromise. Lookin’ at you, keto folk!

I’m not the only one who’s high-key obsessed (sorry, couldn’t resist) with HighKey. In fact, I was late to the party. Their mini cookies are so universally adored that they’ve amassed more than 30,000 5-star reviews on Amazon, which mention everything from their “craving-crushing” products to the “best customer service EVER.”

So Where To Begin?

You can’t go wrong with the classic, OG Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies, but I’d suggest starting out with a bundle so you can try a few different options at a discounted price.

So addictive, I may have to hide them from myself.

For anyone who’s always reaching for the cookie jar, the Cookie Monster Bundle comes with four bestselling mini cookie flavors: Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Brownie, Snickerdoodle, and Vanilla Wafer.

If you’re a “more is more” type of person like me, I’d recommend the Ultimate Craver Bundle, complete with a few varieties of cookies, Caramel Clusters, Soft-Baked Mini Treats, Brownie Crisps, and even savory Almond-Flour Crackers.

And for the adventurous, HighKey even offers a build your own bundle option, where you can hand-pick your dessert A-team to make all of your sweet dreams come true.

After testing dozens of better-for-you desserts, I can confidently say that HighKey is the only brand I crave every single day. If you want to break up with sugar this year, drop everything you’re doing and check out their website.
