I’m Usually a “No Shave For the First Few Days of November” Kinda Guy.
Until my facial hair starts looking like a briar patch—and embarrassment forces me to pick up the razor again. But I support the No Shave November movement, and the irony is that I’m usually just as embarrassed after shaving for not participating. So it’s something of a predicament.
But this year will be different. I tried out something called Beard Club a few months ago, and now I’m not only more comfortable with growing my beard out, I’m twice as good at it. They make growth kits that utilize things like derma rolling, essential vitamins and nutrients, and growth stimulating oils to unlock your best beard possible and keep it soft, clean, and healthy.
And lemme just say, this s*** works. I mean, I’ve been able to grow more of my beard in two months than I have in the past 20 years of my life. So rather than going into this November nervous and timid, I’m going in fired up and confident.
The Real Background on No Shave November
If you’re anything like I was for most of my life, you might think No Shave November is just a meme some college kid thought up to dedicate a month to his messiness. But it’s much more than that.
No Shave November was started in 2009 by the family of Matthew Hill, who lost his battle with colon cancer a couple years prior. The Hill family wanted to spread awareness and raise money for research, so they started No Shave November as a way to embrace the hair that many cancer patients lose. The original idea was for people to donate the money they’d normally spend on shaving and grooming to the cause.
But now it’s grown into a full-scale movement, drawing in attention, funds, and advocacy around fighting cancer. As it happens, Beard Club has been named The Official Beard Care Partner of No Shave November for multiple years running. Beard Club’s motto is “don’t grow it alone”—fitting for a movement around unity, perseverance, and hope.
So Beard Club Has Me Stoked to Let My Facial Hair Run Wild
And on top of that, they ensure it also runs full, smooth, and not patchy. Beard Club has over 2 million happily bearded customers and 4.99 stars from 11,000+ reviews for a reason: they help guys grow great beards.
In addition to being officially sponsored by the No Shave November movement, they’ve been raved about in publications like GQ, BuzzFeed, and Esquire. Even “The Beard” James Harden has partnered with this best-of-the-best beard brand.
Beard Club uses high-quality, non-toxic, and growth-proven resources to glow-up your beard. And, given that my scruff no longer looks like an unbuckled chin strap, I can personally attest that it works.
Okay, So It Works, But How?
I went with their Advanced Growth Kit (only $49 with code NBF35), which comes with a Derma Roller, Vitamin Spray, Growth Vitamins, Growth Oil, Beard Shampoo, a Boar Bristle Brush, and some cleansing spray.
I’d heard of derma rolling before, and turns out that this was the kit’s bread and butter. It uses rolling microneedles to stimulate new beard growth and activate dormant follicles, and it was wild to literally watch my patches disappear over the weeks I consistently used this thing.
The vitamins, vitamin spray, and beard oil all nourished the hair growth and softened my scruff so I didn’t have to deal with that ungodly itch. (Another historical impediment to my No Shave November success.) The kit helped my beard grow from the inside-out and the outside-in—and now I can grow a thicker and fuller beard that actually feels good on my face.
I Think I’m Leap-Frogging No Shave November to Never Shave Ever…
Because growing a great beard is actually a little addicting. And of course, it’s easy to keep everything clean and groomed with Beard Club. In all seriousness though, I’m recommending Beard Club to every guy I know ahead of such an important month for men’s health and cancer awareness.
No Shave November tells us to come together over our shared humanity, to support each other in the ways cancer has affected our lives, to fight for life-saving resources and lift one another up by growing out our beards. Beard Club says yes, and also: they might as well be good beards.
