Hint: It has to do with your bed
Menopause always felt like a fantastical, impossibly far-off phase… until it hit me. The most aggravating part? The nighttime hot flashes, which stir me awake in a miserable cloud of sweat-dampened sheets and clothes. These irritating wake-up calls were few and far between at first, but soon leveled up to 4 or even 5x per week. I found myself spending daylight hours stressing about how long I’d be able to sleep that night, and the stress only made it harder to relax in the evenings. I accumulated a punishing sleep debt, the likes of which I hadn’t known since college (and back then, it was by choice). Something had to change.
When I took to the internet for solutions, I was surprised at the volume of people who suggested sleeping with less bedding (or no covers at all). The predominant recommendation seemed to be stripping the bed or cranking the AC, neither of which would apply to me. I couldn’t sleep without some sort of cover over me (I thought that was common?) and I wasn’t about to freeze my partner to death—or triple our electric bill—by turning to the thermostat.
Then, in a Reddit thread about menopause, I stumbled across a link to Buffy’s Breeze bedding collection.

My Fateful First Order
The Breeze collection was cited as naturally cooling and moisture-wicking, two adjectives that were enormously appealing to me in my (then) current state. The offerings included Breeze Sheets, the Breeze Comforter, and a Breeze Duvet Cover. I don’t know if it was desperation, lack of sleep, or a little bit of both, but next thing I knew all 3 were in my cart.
My partner was extremely cooperative and had no problem re-making our entire bed with my slew of breezy new products once they arrived. Neither of us could’ve anticipated that he’d love them just as much as (spoiler alert!) I did.

I Found My Solution(s) in Buffy
The Breeze sheets and duvet cover were cool to the touch, but after snuggling up in them, we learned that they have a temperature-regulating effect. That is to say, they adjust according to your body’s temperature (read: they don’t leave you sweaty OR freezing). It felt like the kind of technology that should require wires and electricity but it was all natural (more on that later). I was impressed.
As for the Breeze comforter, it was thin enough not to feel stifling but had enough presence that both of us still felt, you know, covered. The comforter shell and fill are made of the same material as the sheets, which quickly became clear as they all had the same temp-regulating effect. (We even slept with just the comforter for one night, to make sure the sheets weren’t overpowering our experience). This was no ordinary bedding system… and thank goodness for that! I was sleeping better than I had in months, which meant I was a far happier camper during the day, too.

TLDR: Buffy is Cool and Smooth as a Cucumber
I had to know how this all worked, and why I’d seen this level of relaxation click into place so quickly. I poked around a bit on the Buffy website and learned that the common thread (pun intended) between all 3 products was the fabric: eucalyptus-based lyocell. Unbelievably, Buffy spins wood pulp into the softer-than-soft Breeze fibers we now sleep with every night. The production process is highly sustainable as it requires 76% less water than cotton and absolutely no toxic pesticides.
I felt unbelievably lucky to have come across Buffy’s products, and I’m shocked more people in the menopausal community aren’t talking about them. If I have to be the one to make everyone aware of this glorious innovation, then so be it.

The onset of menopause caused the cotton I’d slept with for decades to suddenly feel abrasive against my skin. Buffy’s Breeze Sheets were so light, cool, and un-clingy, that I felt held and untouched at the same time. (If that doesn’t make sense to you, it’s because you haven’t hit menopause yet.) Plus, their silky texture meant they didn’t wrinkle and crease the way my old sheets had, which had unexpectedly become yet another source of skin irritation.
I know myself, and I could never have slept without any sort of sheet or blanket on top of me. My Breeze sheets, comforter, and duvet cover allowed me—us—to cozy up in bed just like I always had, minus the oppressively hot midnight disturbances.
You Have Nothing to Lose & Everything to Gain
One of the first details I noticed while browsing Buffy’s website is that they offer a 7-night free trial. That was a phenomenon I’d never seen from any other bedding brand, and it made me wonder why I hadn’t. Bedding is a big commitment, after all—why not test-drive it first?
I’m sure you can guess that I never once considered returning my trinity of sacred Buffy bedding products. But the option is there! If you’re in the throes of menopause like I am, or even if you’re just a hot sleeper, I truly cannot recommend this collection enough. Seriously. Best to try them out now before the whole world discovers Buffy and they’re perpetually sold out!
