We ❤️ Sans So Much, We Convinced Them to Sponsor This Post

Editor’s Note: Sans is offering $120 off their iconic Air Purifier right now for Memorial Day (plus free shipping, always).

In Our Over-Polluted World, It’s Becoming More Important Than Ever to Breathe Clean Air at Home.

But these days, the air purifier market is almost as saturated as the air. We get it: you want to filter your air, not filter through endless product listings. But it’s hard to see through the cheeky marketing that not all purifiers are created equal.

To help out, we decided to dive into a head-to-head showdown between two heavyweights in the “clean air” industry” the Sans Air Purifier and the Coway Airmega 250. These top-tier machines both utilize gold-standard HEPA filters, modern aesthetic designs, and elite power and efficiency.

When you look closely, however, there are some key differences. And we’re here to help you decide which is better for your space. Let’s dive in.

Brand Breakdown: Coway & Sans

  • Coway has been long-established as a leader in the purification world. Founded in South Korea, this company is known for its robust tech and dependable performance. Their Airmega series is considered a staple in the air purification market… but it’s certainly not cheap, with the Airmega 250 coming in at $399. And while Coway might win on legacy, this next brand has the edge on style and forward-thinking tech.
  • Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sans quickly established itself as a brand obsessed with clean air. From the jump, this brand positioned itself as the provider of sleek, no-nonsense air purifiers with features like medical-grade HEPA filtration, Activated Carbon, and a UV-C light. Their signature minimalist designs look like they belong in Architectural Digest (who actually awarded Sans the “best at removing pollutants” and “best in design”). But these purifiers are just as much function as they are form, packing some serious power.

These air purifiers are so sought after for a reason. But in the interest of healthy competition, we broke it down into three categories to clear the air on the best possible option.

Price: Sans Air Purifier

The Coway Airmega 250 costs $399 while the Sans Air Purifier is currently on sale for $469 $349. Sans slightly takes the edge on the listing price, but it’s neck and neck. It’s worth mentioning that Coway only comes in a hospital–esque grey, while Sans comes in a sleek white or midnight black colorway.

Plus, when it comes to price, we’ve gotta consider the cost of replacement filters. Sans’ replacement filter costs $39.99 $35.99 when you subscribe & save, while Coway’s replacement filter is priced at $79. Sans recommends changing the filter every 3 months, while Coway recommends changing theirs every 6 months or so—making Sans’ filter replacement cost cheaper over the course of a year.

When you throw in Sans’ 5-year warranty, you get lower upfront cost, cheaper maintenance, and five years of coverage. Sans is the clear winner in this category.

Effectiveness: Sans Air Purifier

Price, of course, is not the only consideration in the purchase of an air purifier. If you’re going to spend the money, you want something that will actually have an impact on your home… and both Sans and Coway are sure to make an impact.

These units are very similar in terms of technical specs. They both utilize medical-grade HEPA-13 filters and an additional carbon filter (with Sans even using an entire pound of activated carbon in theirs) to absorb odor, chemicals, and gases. They’re both engineered to move huge quantities of air, purifying the whole room. (Sans at 1,560 sq. ft. an hour and Coway at 1,860 sq. ft.)

Coway claims it clears 930 sq. ft. elsewhere, however, making it a bit ambiguous. And here’s the kicker—Sans also packs some exclusive features that Coway lacks: three laser sensors that display real-time air quality and a UV-C light for an extra layer of pathogen-killing power. We’ll give Sans the slight edge here.

Reviews and Customer Love: Sans

You know the saying—numbers don’t lie. The Sans Air Purifier is rocking a 4.9 out of 5 stars from 2,825 reviews with 99% of users recommending it. Customers rave about its whisper-quiet operation, massive dust reduction, and noticeable air quality improvements. Frying chicken in the kitchen, pet hair everywhere… doesn’t matter. Sans will clear the air in minutes.

The Coway Airmega 250, though well-loved, has 4.7 out of 5 stars from just 77 reviews. Users praise its quietness and effectiveness, but the lower volume of reviews and slightly lower average rating suggest it’s not quite the crowd favorite that Sans is.

With more reviews, higher ratings, and a loyal fanbase, Sans becomes the clear favorite. (Again.)

We Know Where We’ll Be Spending Our Money…

When all is said and done and the dust settles (or, more likely, sucked out of the air)… it’s clear who stands victorious. Sans takes the edge in three critical categories: price, effectiveness, and customer love. While the Coway Airmega 250 provides dependable coverage, Sans just takes it a few steps further (and for a lower price at that).

If you’re looking for the sleekest air purifier in its class, medical-grade filtration, and state-of-the-art bonus features for a price that keeps more money in your pocket and takes all the contaminants out of your air… Sans might be the right choice for you. It’s worth mentioning that Coway and Sans both offer 30-day free trials and free shipping, so there’s no risk in testing them out for yourself.

Head to Sans’ website and check out the purifier that delivers premium performance without the premium price tag. We think you’ll breathe easy with your decision.
