$105 Down the Drain…
Last year, I dropped my brand-new SkinCeuticals eye cream on the floor of the LAX bathroom after a red-eye, and the bottle shattered everywhere.
As I crawled around picking up shards of glass and cursing my luck, a flight attendant walked in and started freshening up. Looking knowingly at me, she waved a set of adorable multicolored Capsules in the air and told me she couldn’t even think about traveling without Cadence.
I’d never heard of Cadence before, but intrigued (and still reeling from the loss of my expensive eye cream), I decided to check it out.
Cadence: How the Travel Pros Pack
As it turns out, Cadence’s small and mighty Capsules are beloved by flight attendants for keeping cosmetics, pills, jewelry, and other self-care essentials safe on the go because they’re leak-proof, basically indestructible, and hold way more than you’d think.
It’s not just flight attendants who love Cadence either. Apparently everyone—from Travel + Leisure to Condé Nast Traveler—has been raving about these magnetic, modern minimalist Capsules for a few years now…I was just late to the party.
“This flight attendant has been searching for these her whole life! These are TRULY THE BEST! I can not stop showing them off to my co-workers! Everyone needs these.” — Merci M.
Betting that the professional flyers and travel publications couldn’t all be wrong, I customized my own Capsule Flex Set of 7 to give it a go on my next work trip. Now months (and many flights) later, I can’t believe there was a time when I didn’t have Cadence. Even when I’m not traveling, I always keep a few Capsules in my purse.
There are a million reasons to love Cadence, but here are my top five:
The Only Truly Leak-Proof Option
If you’ve ever opened your carry-on to a shampoo fiasco after a long flight, you’ll know that mostly leak-proof is very different than actually leak-proof. What sets Cadence apart is that their wide-mouth Capsules have screw-on lids that are 100% leak-proof, air-tight, and watertight (even if you submerge them in water).
They’re also pretty much indestructible. You can drop them, step on them, and toss them in your bag with the confidence that they’ll neither break nor leak. And even though these Capsules are tough, they’re lightweight and easy to open with one hand.
Beautiful & Functional
From the minimalist design to the chic, understated colors, Cadence’s Capsules are gorgeous to look at…but more importantly, they have both form and function. Unlike cheap single-use toiletry bottles from the dollar store, Cadence’s Capsules have a wide mouth opening that makes filling them quick, effortless, and mess-free, with drop-proof magnetic lids that stick to the sides when they’re not screwed on. The Capsule Flex System comes in multiple sizes:
- The 56: this small Capsule holds 0.56 fl oz–the same volume as the Original Capsule. Its updated low profile design is great for products like eye cream, balm, and ibuprofen.
- The 132: this medium-sized Capsule Flex holds 1.32 fl oz, is magnetic, and infinitely modular. It is nearly 2.5x the size of the Original Capsule, and great for cleansers, face masks, and medications.
- The 275: this large Capsule Flex holds 2.75 fl oz–nearly 5x the volume as The Flex 56. It is still TSA compliant, magnetic, and modular. Simply unscrew The Flex Extender for easy access to every last drop of your product.
- The Flex Extender: this extender instantly adds 1.43 fl oz to any Capsule Flex for flexibility, longer trips, and/or more volume.
Plus, they feature interchangeable labels which means you always know what’s inside. Cadence offers pre-set options ranging from common products like lotion, days of the week, and even icons. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, Cadence can print any word you’d like!
A Space-Saving Dream
Say sayonara to mismatched travel-sized bottles that take up half of your suitcase. Cadence’s sleek magnetic Capsules were designed to minimize the footprint of your self care routine in your bag, freeing up space for another pair of shoes!
These Capsules are compact and they don’t have any corners for my product to get trapped in. I’ve found that they can easily fit a week’s worth of cleanser or moisturizer, a month of serum, or 15-20 small pills like Tylenol. Cadence even has a “capacity calculator” on their website that tells you exactly how much of different products fits in the Capsule you’d like.
Sail Through TSA With Ease
A lot of people don’t know this, but TSA guidelines require all containers to be “marked” less than 3.4 ounces. This means that without a proper label, any container can be confiscated by TSA. Cadence thought of everything though—their Capsules are TSA compliant and clearly marked.
Thanks to Cadence, I don’t have to worry about being held-up in the security line, or TSA confiscating my beloved products. I will say that I have been stopped because of these Capsules once…but it was actually because the agent wanted to know what they were so she could get her own set!
See Ya, Single-Use Plastic!
The sad reality is that most travel-sized containers end up in the bin after a trip. This isn’t just bad for the environment, but it’s a waste of money too: travel-sized products average 3x more expensive per ounce than full-sized bottles. Most of the time, they get tossed half-full just because most of us can’t be bothered to use the rest.
Not only are Cadence’s durable travel containers built to last a lifetime (reducing the need for single-use plastic), but they’re also made out of BPA-free, non-leaching, recycled ocean-bound plastic. This means Cadence is keeping more plastic from the oceans AND actively working to clean them up too.
Cadence Will Change The Way You Travel
If you’re ready to start packing like a professional, I can’t recommend Cadence enough. Their leak-proof, durable, and impossibly easy-to-use Capsules are a traveler’s best friend. From the intuitive screw-off lids to the magnetic features, it’s clear that Cadence really thought of everything.
While the Capsules are an investment, the peace of mind they provide while traveling is more than worth it. Not to mention, saving even one Capsule full of expensive product from being confiscated (or in my case, dropped on the bathroom floor) covers the cost immediately.
