Original Grain: Making a Difference (By Hand)
The Beltran brothers have been honing their craft since 2013 when they launched Original Grain on Kickstarter. Their meticulously hand-crafted timepieces were an instant success, becoming the third most-funded campaign on the platform at the time. A Tree Is Planted For Every Watch Sold
Every Original Grain watch is made using reclaimed forest wood from all over the world (or from awesome things like ammo boxes, whiskey barrels, and even guitars).

It may seem obvious to those who have seen the aftermath of any forest fire, but for those who haven’t, it’s nearly impossible to imagine the damage. In recent years, the increased frequency and severity of fires have exponentially worsened that damage.
Although fires are sometimes a natural occurrence that a forest can recover from without any help, that is not always the case. Oftentimes, fires are worse due to human interaction, and in those situations, the forest needs some help being restored. That’s where Original Grain comes in…
Burnt Trees Are Removed, Reclaimed, and Reused
The fire-stricken forest floors need to be cleared in order for young trees to vegetate and make space for new trees to be planted. Burnt wood loses its strength and integrity and therefore can not be used for lumber, furniture, or even paper. But it’s not useless–Original Grain, discovered a way to turn the charred wood into something beautiful.
The smoothed, blackened wood is combined with resin to create a hardened material that creates one-of-a-kind watch faces and wristband links.
