Last week, I was watching TV and saw one of my favorite bloggers, Breanne Miller, appear on a commercial for a new emergency kit that she uses to keep herself and her family prepared for any kind of emergency — it’s called JUDY. Since they were giving 20% off, and my current kit is just a half-used first-aid kit, I decided to get the Mover Max for myself!
So, What is JUDY?
Upon doing more research behind the origin of the brand, it began a couple of years ago when Simon Huck, the CEO, was in California and realized during the 2018 wildfires that he, his family, and his friends were not prepared by any means for what was happening.
Hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated from their homes and had nothing prepared — no emergency plans, no rendezvous points, no emergency kits, no emergency food, or water… nothing. This is when Simon realized there needed to be a better way to prepare for unexpected emergencies and decided to create JUDY.
JUDY is an emergency preparedness kit, designed by experts, to keep you and your family safe and prepared for up to 72-hours in the case of an emergency, from wildfires to tornadoes to earthquakes.
According to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), 60% of American families are not prepared for emergencies. With natural disasters happening more often, and as a new mom, I knew I had to get a JUDY to protect and prepare my family and me for any situation — big or small.
JUDY Arrives
I ordered the Mover Max and it arrived within 4 days. The Mover Max is a completely water-proof and puncture-proof backpack and comes with emergency tools, a First-Aid kit, warmth necessities, a safety kit, food, and water, neither of which expire for 5 years.
One reason I chose the Mover Max is that if I need to evacuate or run out the door, it is evacuation-friendly and easy to grab.
The box itself was sturdy and clearly labeled. The inside fold said “READY, SET” and in between was my JUDY bag!
Opening JUDY
When I opened my JUDY Kit, I was surprised at all the things I’d never thought of before. All of the supplies are organized in cartons by category and boldly labeled, so I can easily locate the items I need when I’m in a panic. Each module has the category in bold (ex. Warmth + Safety) and then the inside contents listed in both English and Spanish for easy identification.
The Supplies
My Mover Max has enough supplies to support up to 4 people for up to 72-hours. There were three cartons packed nicely inside the backpack:
- Tools + First Aid
- Warmth + Safety
- Food + Water
Tools + First Aid
The tools and first aid box has everything from an LED flashlight, a multitool and a hand-crank radio to a 109-piece First Aid Kit with an instant cool pack, bandages, medical tape, and other tools, like scissors and tweezers. Whether there’s a power outage, earthquake or I cut myself, JUDY has everything to put myself back together.
Warmth + Safety
The warmth and safety carton is packed with emergency blankets, rain ponchos, KN95 dust masks, glow sticks, and more. If there’s a wildfire or hurricane, I know my Mover Max contains everything I need in a hurry.
Food + Water
The food and water carton contains mini-meals and water packets to provide nutrition and hydration. Both the food and water have a 5-year shelf life (normal water expires!). The mini-meals include soy and gluten ingredients, so if you’re allergic, make sure to add some food bars for yourself. There is also enough space to add your own non-perishable food items.
The Kit Itself
The JUDY bag itself is super durable. I read online that it’s made of ripstop 500D tarpaulin with fully-welded seams to make for a stronger, waterproof, and puncture-resistant backpack! The padded back support helps relieve pressure on muscles, and thick, cushioned straps adjust for any type of body. It’s also equipped with a heavy-duty waist-belt, which relieves added pressure and helps support your supplies.
The opening of the JUDY backpack is not a zipper, but a fold-over, so you don’t have to worry about a zipper breaking or not opening in an emergency, or anything leaking. The triple fold allows for a reliable way to secure and protect your belongings. It’s also bright orange, making it easy to locate in my house AND if I’m ever trapped, the bright orange will make it easier for me to be spotted.
With more natural disasters coming more often, I cannot recommend JUDY enough to prepare you and your family.
