Okay, let me start off by saying I hate overpaying for things.
Like, I really hate it. I’m the type to circle the block five times to avoid paying to park.
So when I saw Bearaby’s weighted blanket selling for $299 I thought ‘there’s no way I’m buying one’. A blanket for three hundred dollars??
Well fast forward a couple months and now I’m that person spamming Instagram with photos of myself constantly napping under my knitted Bearaby… AND I’m telling everyone I know to buy one.
So what changed? How’d I go from comfort scrooge to big blanket spender?
Bearaby Is Worth The Weight
Bearabys aren’t normal, run-of-the-mill blankets. They’re luxurious, cozy, knitted weighted blankets that feel like a big bear hug.
This means they don’t just warm you up, they calm you down.
In a study by Psychology Today, 63 percent of weighted blanket users said they felt a decrease in their anxiety. This effect is even more noticeable for people who struggle with seasonal depression.
I bought the 20 pound Tree Napper (which I like because it’s made of a super-cool, breathable material), and I cannot tell you how noticeable the difference was even after one sleep. I pulled my Bearaby up over my sheets and an instant calm washed over me.
Whereas before I had to balance two or three blankets on top of each other to get the weight I wanted, I could just pull my Bearaby over me and it would stay put the whole night, meaning I stayed asleep the whole night.
On top of that, because of its construction, Bearabys are super durable — meaning that while I may lose couches or bed frames when I move apartments, my Bearaby will always stay with me.
I view my Bearaby as an investment in my happiness. Between the durability and the fact that it keeps me calm, cozy, (and most importantly), asleep throughout the night… it’s well worth the price.
The Gift That Keeps On Giving
After falling in love with my weighted Bearaby blanket, my next thought was, I need to get this for my mom. She’s always been an acute insomniac (worse than me), and trends on, let’s say the ‘easily frazzled’ side of things. Calmness would be her ultimate gift.
The problem? They were sold out. Turns out I wasn’t the only person who thinks weighted blankets make a great gift for winter.
So this year I made sure to prepare myself and order ahead of time. Currently, I have the 15 pound Rose Quartz Velvet Napper (because she’s smaller than me) on its way to my house right now. I cannot wait to give it to her.
For anyone shopping for their wife, husband, significant other or parent, I cannot recommend a better holiday gift. It’s perfect for the winter cold weather (and warm weather too), it lasts forever,— and it truly just looks gorgeous in any home.
Bearaby has so many weight and color options, it’s easy to shop for any person on your list. I love my Velvet Napper, but you can’t go wrong with the classic Cotton Napper or the uber-cooling eucalyptus Tree Napper (perfect for people who sleep hot).
So seriously, if you want a Christmas gift that keeps on giving the whole year, buy a Bearaby. Just make sure you don’t wait until they’re all gone.
