I Understand Why Mark Cuban Couldn’t Resist Investing in This Company…
Because after one day of wearing this shirt to work, I decided to order 6 more. It all started when my wife finally had enough of my complaints about getting dressed for the office. Which, before I found Collars & Co., was an impossible task…
You wear a dress shirt, but you know you’ll get sweat stains on the humid train, so you throw on a blazer or a sweater over it, which hides the stains but makes you sweat even more. Then you’ve got a bunched up shirt, sticky back, and steam coming out of your collar. And when you finally get to the office? It’s freezing. And the sweat turns into a layer of arctic ice.
For years, my office uniform felt more like a prison sentence than a fashion statement as soon as May rolled around. And then my wife fixed everything. (Shocker.) She saw this brand Collars & Co. on Shark Tank, which claims to have the solution for my exact problem…

Basically, they put a stiff dress collar on a performance, moisture-wicking polo shirt. And yeah, it’s completely changed my life. No wonder Mark Cuban and Peter Jones both invested in this company. Even I’m ready to give them all my money.
The Beauty’s in the Details: What Sets Collars & Co. Apart
The problem with traditional office-wear is that it doesn’t keep up with the times. All the shirts that look good, don’t feel good. And all the shirts that feel good, look like you just came from the gym. (Not a good look for my morning meeting.)
I’ve tried some other brands out there before, trying to find the answer for this. Brands like Mizzen+Maine, or the Rhone Commuter Shirt… but they didn’t have quite the right look. Interestingly, the problem was always the collar. By the end of the day, it would just look sad and floppy—outing me in my search for comfort.

But as soon as I threw this Dress Collar Polo underneath a blazer, I knew that I had found my answer. (Excuse me, that my wife had found my answer.) Collars & Co. managed to create a product that both looks great and feels great, thanks to the stiff dress collar and 4-way stretch fabric.
From the Storehouse to Your House
Collars & Co. actually offers a bunch of different products and styles for men and women, but the OG shirt is called the Dress Collar Polo. That’s what my wife got me started on. There are four different collar options: a traditional English spread, a semi-spread, a cutaway, and an Oxford button-down collar.

It seems like there’s an infinite number of colors and patterns you can go with, but she got me the Semi-Spread Collar in Blue Houndstooth. Since she was ordering for the first time she got a 15% discount, and would’ve gotten free shipping over $99. (And yes, the second round I ordered was comfortably over the free shipping threshold.)
Taking This Life-Saver Out of the Box
The first thing I noticed about the shirt was the fabric. It was lightweight and super-soft… a lot like a golf polo, but it had more structure to it. I could tell as soon as I put it on that my sweat would be under control—the breathability was really next level.

But the best part was the collar. I mean this thing is legit. Collar stays make it super firm and help it retain that pressed, fresh-from-the-cleaners look. No more “bacon collar” with these guys. The shirt even has a placket that goes down far enough to rock a tie. When I’m wearing a sweater, you would literally never guess I’m wearing a polo shirt.
I ordered one of each of the other collar types after day one, and now I have a full arsenal of styles. So there’s no occasion I’m not fully prepared for.
A Day in the Life of a (Sweat-Free) City Commuter
The shirt couldn’t have arrived at a better time. It was a ridiculously hot May week in New York City (thanks, global warming) and the temperature was already pushing 85°. But when I wore this shirt under a blazer, even the jam-packed Subway didn’t make me sweat.

It felt surreal: I didn’t have bunched-up sleeves, my pits stayed fresh and dry, and I wasn’t deathly afraid of the power walk from the station to the office building down 6th avenue. So many hurdles that I’d gotten used to were just gone. If only I could come up with a gift this perfect for my wife…
Plus when I finally got to the office, I was ready for that first blast of AC. My collar was crisp and professional and my back was completely dry. I felt like I could run a marathon before my first meeting (if I could run a marathon, that is).
Collars & Co. Is Gonna Change Way More Than Just the Office-Wear Game.
While the shirt looks elegant and professional when layered underneath something, it honestly looks just as good as a plain old polo. After trying all the collar types, I’ll definitely be ordering more of the semi-spread—it’s just the right amount of formal and has a ton of color options.
I’m gonna be sporting these beauties all summer long with or without a blazer on top. If you see me on the golf course, at a wedding, or in the restaurant lobby for date night… I apologize in advance for the spirited pitch I’m gonna give you.
I just love this brand too much to not spread the word. Anything your dress shirt can do, the Dress Collar Polo can do better. Don’t believe me? Just try it out for yourself.
