I’ve always considered myself a healthy person. I work out, eat most of my veggies, and generally get around eight hours of sleep. However, up until about a year ago, I still found myself going to the doctor every 2-3 months. Sometimes it was for regular checkups. Other times it was to refill prescriptions. Every now and then I just wanted to make sure that my sore throat wasn’t anything more serious.
That, of course, was pre-COVID. When the pandemic first hit, you could not have bribed me to go to a doctor’s office. Leaving my apartment and being around another person, especially someone who might be sick, was not my jam. At all!
Enter Hims, a one-stop telehealth service that provides everything from digital primary care to a wide range of specific treatment options for things like hair loss, E.D., skincare, mental health, and more. The best part? I can see a doctor and fill a prescription straight to my front door at an affordable cost (yes, affordable… not a typo!).
I have been loving my experience thus far. Here’s why…
1. Hims’ Primary Care is 100% digital
Hims recently started offering completely digital primary care. I can make an appointment, talk to a doctor, and get a prescription sent to my front door in less time than it takes me to make a loaf of sourdough bread.
That means no more scheduling nightmares, taking time off of work, or sitting in a waiting room. It’s fast, convenient, and eliminates the stress of taking care of my health when I don’t want to leave my apartment.
The cherry on top: the primary care doctor that I spoke with was friendly, professional, and genuinely seemed interested in learning about my health!
2. They have treatment options I need
Hey, just because I’m a guy doesn’t mean that I don’t have a ten-step skin care routine. I need specialty products during the cold winter months, and thanks to my dad’s genes, I started taking a prescription to fight hair loss. Hims has my back in both of these departments. They can also treat all kinds of conditions including cold & flu, allergies, and infections, among a ton of others they list on their site.
3. Hims is (dare I say) affordable
I just got kicked off of my parents’ insurance and have yet to sign onto a new plan. I know, I know…I’m working on it! I was shocked to discover that even without insurance, a visit with my Hims primary care doctor only cost $39, and most of their prescription drugs are 50% to 80% cheaper than the retail costs of brand name versions. Because Hims operates digitally, they don’t need to pay for doctor’s offices or pharmacy locations, and the savings are passed on to their customers.
4. Prescriptions are delivered to my door
My prescriptions from Hims are delivered to my door, though youcan pick up from a local pharmacy if preferred.
Let’s face it, 2020 changed our lives. Where we eat, how we’re entertained, where our kids go to school—almost every day-to-day aspect of life is different than it was one year ago. Hims has not only helped give me peace of mind during an uncertain time, but also completely shifted the way that I think about my health moving forward.
If you’re looking to take your health into your own hands, on your own time, and on your own terms, I seriously cannot recommend checking out Hims.
