In an effort to feel better about, well, everything this year, we started by taking a critical look at our energy drinks…
The cruel irony of January is that while we’re all looking to meet goals old and new, the tasks that were routine just a month ago suddenly feel 5x harder. Perhaps too many festive vacation days give us a false sense of freedom? The bottom line is that we tend to need a boost of energy to do anything post-NYE.
There are a lot of popular antidotes to this problem, and most of them come in silver cans full of synthetic ingredients. We’re not here to stand on a soapbox—our team has thrown back Red Bulls with the best of them—but lately we’ve realized that the artificial energy drinks of yesteryear haven’t been doing us any favors.
So, we found a far-improved alternative: Magic Mind. While the other guys boast 5 hours of (let’s be real, jittery) activity, Magic Mind promises 7+ hours of sustained energy, without the crash or caffeine anxiety.
Editor’s Note: Save up to $51 (yeah…that’s 45% off) when you subscribe to monthly Magic Mind shipments.
Our energy exes: What do Red Bull, Five-Hour Energy, and Celsius have in common? Synthetic caffeine.
Now, just to be clear, we’re not about to say that caffeine itself is bad for you. On the contrary—many studies (like this meta-analysis) have found that it can help improve cognition. But the problem with synthetic caffeine in products like energy drink is that it’s more concentrated and found in much higher doses. Like Red Bull, which contains 111mg per 12oz can, Five-Hour Energy, which contains 200mg per serving, and Celsius, which contains a whopping 200-300mg of caffeine per can.
This higher dosage of synthetic caffeine is absorbed by the body much more quickly, resulting in a stronger, faster hit of energy and a subsequent crash. This can result in increased heart rate and blood pressure, headaches and migraines, anxiety, shortness of breath, chest pain, and can even exacerbate heart conditions long-term (more on that in a second).
That’s Where Magic Mind Comes In
Magic Mind is the brainchild of bestselling author James Beshara. After being diagnosed with a heart condition, he learned that the off-the-charts amount of caffeine he consumed daily (combined with high levels of stress from his job) was taking a serious toll on his health. He knew he had to cut down on caffeine, but needed something that could help him stay focused and energized all day.
Beshara then spent more than a decade working with a team of scientists, doctors, and other industry experts to develop the world’s first productivity shot: a product with the effects he desired but none of the negative cognitive and physical side effects. Finally, after more than 100 iterations, he launched Magic Mind in 2020.
In the few years since Magic Mind has launched, it’s been praised by acclaimed publications (Forbes, Wired, GQ, TechCrunch, and CNN) and innovators alike (the inventors of Twitch and WordPress, who said it makes them feel “ultra-productive” and called it “a ritual that fuels my productivity and creativity”).
Anything Your Energy Drink Can Do, Magic Mind Does 10x Better
Every shot contains 55mg of caffeine, which is naturally derived from Organic Matcha. When you compare that to, say, a Celsius, or an 8oz cup of Starbucks coffee (which contains 180mg of caffeine) it doesn’t sound like much. But matcha also contains an amino acid called L-Theanine, which offsets the stress response caused by caffeine, as well as antioxidants called catechins that ensure your body absorbs the small dose of caffeine more slowly and that provide a longer-lasting, smoother hit of energy.
When that small amount of caffeine is consumed regularly with a powerful blend of adaptogens, nootropics, and vitamins—like Organic Ashwagandha, Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom, Rhodiola Rosea, Phosphatidylserine, Choline, Vitamins C, B, and D3, and Bacopa Monnieri—well, that’s when the magic happens.
The 12 plant-based ingredients in Magic Mind work together to help:
- Support cognition
- Boost energy
- Elevate mood and motivation
- Decrease stress and anxiety
- Increase focus
- Support immunity
…for 7+ hours, all without jitters, crash, or sleepless nights. Seriously. If you take a look at Magic Mind’s reviews, people are making some crazy claims, like calling it “liquid enlightenment,” or comparing its cognitive-enhancing effects to that of study drugs like Adderall.
Of course, a single shot won’t make you feel like superman. It takes 5-10 days for the full effects of many of the ingredients build up over time in the body, so Magic Mind was designed to become a part of your daily routine. You can drink it in the morning alongside a cup of coffee or tea, pour it over ice and mix it with your favorite milk to make it a latte, or just shoot it back. The 2 oz. shot tastes like a delicious mix between a matcha latte and a green juice—earthy, refreshing, and a little bit sweet.
How You Can Save Up to 45%
Every Magic Mind shot is packed with highly effective, clinically-studied ingredients—and the cost reflects that. There are a few different pricing options where you can either opt into a subscription or buy the 15 or 30-packs a la carte, but the most cost-effective option is to start a 30-bottle subscription to save 45%, or $51. This brings the price down from $5.95 to $3.25 per bottle, or $97.50 for the month.
Magic Mind also offers a 30-day “Magic Guarantee,” so if you’re not feeling the magic in a month, they’ll issue you a refund, no questions asked.
